Simply by Being
In the modern day, when one speaks of glorifying the Lord, it seems so invariably tied to something we must do, something we must say, a song we must sing, or a prayer we must offer.
And all of that, is all very good and well.
However do the Psalms not say
“O Lord, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.”
Do the Psalms not say
“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.”
Do the Psalms not say
“The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands
But when I ask myself “How do the skies proclaim? How do the heavens rejoice? How do the forests sing for joy?” the answer seems clear;
simply by being.
And I propose that in this way, the skies, and the heavens, and the forests, and we, are not so very different.
